The Gude , also called Gudebach , is an approximately 9.3 km long, northern and orographically right tributary of the Fulda in the East Hessian highlands in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg .

The Gude rises and flows in the northern part of the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in the Fulda-Werra-Bergland , part of the East Hessian mountainous region. Its source is in the center of the Stölzinger Mountains about 1.3 km northwest of Obergude , a northern district of Alheim below 449.4  m above sea level. NHN high Volkersberg at around 335  m above sea level.

First, the Gude flows south-east along Landesstraße  3304 to Obergude, after which it runs mainly south-south-west past the Hasenmühle , through Niedergude , past the Klengemühle and the Steckmühle and through Erdpenhausen to Hergershausen .

Somewhat below Hergershausen, the Gude reaches the Fulda valley when leaving the Stölzinger Mountains and passing the Grundmühle there , where it bends north-west immediately after crossing under the federal road 83 and the route of the Bebra-Baunatal-Guntershausen railway line . About 750 m downstream it flows at about 182  m near Fulda kilometer 92.15 into the Weser source river Fulda coming from the southeast ; Opposite its mouth, on the other side of the Fulda, lies the Alheim village of Baumbach at some distance .

Catchment area and tributaries

The catchment area of the Gude is 19.113 km². The longest tributary of the Gude is the 3.2 km long Roßbach , which flows below Niedergude at Gudebach km 5.5 and has a catchment area of ​​4.889 km².

Alheim water adventure trail

The Alheim water adventure trail runs along the Gude from its source to the mouth . At several stations along the adventure trail , installations are intended to promote awareness of the sensitive use of water .
