IC 3459 is an irregular dwarf galaxy from the Hubble type in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is an estimated 10 million light years away from the Milky Way and is> 5,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VVC 1392 .
The galaxies NGC 4486 , IC 3440 , IC 3443 , IC 3465 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on September 13, 1900 by the German astronomer Arnold Schwassmann .
