IC 3465 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type E4 in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 42 million light years from the Milky Way and about 5,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VVC 1420 .
The galaxies IC 3440 , IC 3459 and IC 3461 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
