NGC 4468 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 38 million light years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 15,000 ly. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VVC 1196 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4447 , NGC 4459 , NGC 4474 , IC 3432 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on January 14, 1787 .
