Friedrich Kalpenstein (born August 14, 1971 in Freising , Upper Bavaria ) is a German author , composer , songwriter and singer .

biography

Friedrich Kalpenstein was born in Freising and went to school there. He completed his training as a dental technician and then worked as a sales representative for dental products.

Today he lives with his wife Petra near Freising in the Ampertal in Upper Bavaria .

Career as an author

He found his way to the author through his son, for whom he spontaneously invented bedtime stories before falling asleep. When his son found one of these stories so beautiful that he wanted to hear it again, he was embarrassed that he could no longer repeat it. He resolved to write down his stories for his son in the future. The children's books Träum 'mir eine Freund and Dreams with Enrico were published in 2014.

At the end of 2013, the debut novel I am single, Kalimera, was released . This novel was first published in self- publishing. The Ink & Feder publishing house became aware of Kalpenstein as an author and in 2015 "Herbert - Ich bin Single, Kalimera" was published there (revised and with a new cover artwork) as the prelude to the novel series "Herbert - Held des Alltags" . The series comprises the further novels as champagne and men Holiday also in 2015 published, followed by Alpine Griller 2017 and peak dreamer and professional bungler , both from the year 2018. With island hippies appears the seventh part of the series in October of 2019. The Herbert series was published as an e-book , paperback (through the Verlag Ink & Feather ) and also as audio books (read by Robert Frank , produced by Audible Studios ).

In addition to the Herbert series , Friedrich Kalpenstein published other novels. In 2016 his work Life is not a two-line story , in 2017 you achieved your goal and in 2018 group therapy . These novels were also published as e-books, paperbacks and audio books. Life is not a two-line story was read in by the audio book speaker Richard Barenberg , you have achieved your goal through Matthias Keller and Robert Frank in group therapy . These audio book titles were also produced by Audible Studios.

Collaboration with other authors

Friedrich Kalpenstein wrote together with the authors Johanna Danninger , Frieda Lamberti , Greta Milán and Emily Bold on the 5-part series Hearts on Fire . A story about a Munich fire station. The titles were published through 2019 by Montlake Romance , an imprint of Amazon Publishing . The titles in the order of publication are Jonah written by Johanna Danninger, Erik by Frieda Lamberti, Vincent by Greta Milán, Marie by Friedrich Kalpenstein and Leo by Emily Bold.

Career as a singer Ben Valdern

Kalpenstein performed as a lead singer and keyboard player in a dance and show band even before his career as an author. For the novel group therapy he used the pseudonym of his protagonist Ben Valdern for studio recordings and performances. For the audio book (read by Robert Frank, produced by Audible Studios) he wrote, produced and sang five songs in the Farm Studios in Freising . In the audio book, the songs are played parallel to the content of the novel when Ben Valdern appears on stage. The background vocals in all Valdern songs come from the singer Bine Heller from Freising.

With the publication of the audio book, the songs were also released on CD , MP3 download and in the stream . Music videos were also produced for the title song group therapy and the song Frei .

In March 2019, Ben Valdern released his single entitled Ticket to Eternity . The single ( Stream Release ) comprises five tracks and contains the song of the same name in English as radio edit , extended mix and the instrumental version as well as the same title in German ticket for eternity in radio edit and extended mix with a total playing time of 28 minutes , 19 seconds. Like the EP Group Therapy , this single was produced by Farm Studios in Freising, with Bine Heller for the backing vocals. The English translation of the song was done by Kate Northrop .
