NGC 4447 is a lens-shaped galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is an estimated 320 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 85,000 ly. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VVC 1085 . It is likely gravitationally tied to its neighbor NGC 4446 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4459 , NGC 4468 , NGC 4474 , IC 3382 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 17, 1887 .
