Konrad Brandt

Konrad Brandt (born July 22, 1936 in Libau / Latvia ; † November 12, 2017 in Wetter ) was a German theologian , missionary, director of the Marburg Mission and longtime EC World Federation President .

Live and act

Konrad Brandt grew up in Danzig, Hamburg and Karlsruhe. As a youth he found faith while attending an evangelism . At that time the desire arose to study Protestant theology , which he began in 1960 at what is now Tabor University in Marburg . This was followed by a two-year stay in the USA and Canada, where he took on representation services in communities. In 1970 he was appointed EC federal warden of the Association Decided for Christ and in 1972 became head of its EC India Aid, representative of the EC conferences and responsible for the development of EC leisure work. He was the editor of the EC Bible reading aid "Lichtstrahl" and the magazine "EC-Kurier", which was integrated into the association magazine "Call" after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

In June 1985, he traveled to Pingtung, Taiwan, in preparation for serving as the mission director of the Marburg Mission. After studying missiology in the USA, he took over the management of the Marburg Mission from January 1989, which he held until he retired in 1999.

In 1986 he was elected EC World Federation President at the EC World Federation Conference in Seoul. He held this office until 1994. He was the German representative of the international organization "China Partners", was the second chairman of the Evangelical Missions Working Group , was chairman of the School of Mission, today's Academy for World Mission in Korntal, and a board member of Columbia International University . From 1999 to 2001 he was the honorary rector of the School of Mission.

In 1967 he married Jutta Müller in Hessisch Lichtenau . The retired couple lived in Wetter.
