Arno Pagel (born September 28, 1914 in Leverkusen , † November 4, 2002 in Kalbertal ) was a Protestant theologian . He worked as an EC Federal Pastor, EC World Federation President and Mission Director in the German Community Diakonieverband .

Life

Arno Pagel was born on September 28, 1914 in Leverkusen. From May 1939 until he was called up for military service in mid-1940, he worked for the youth work of the Protestant community in Wiehl and belonged to the Confessing Church.

In January 1946 he began his work as an EC Federal Pastor and was in charge of the work of the German Youth Association "Decided for Christ" (EC) eV based in Kassel until 1964 . Under the leadership of Pastor Pagels as the first federal pastor after the Second World War, the EC experienced a new beginning in western Germany because it was able to inspire young people. The he led retreats showed great missionary success. Arno Pagel has shaped the history of the German EC Association through his missionary work up to the present day. From 1961 to 1964 he was also responsible for the EC Association's aid to India.

He also worked as President of the EC World Federation (1974–1982) and as Director of the Marburg Mission in the German Community Diakonieverband (1966–1979). During all this time Pagel was also active as a writer. He died on November 4, 2002 at the age of 88.

Arno Pagel Foundation

On November 3, 2000, the German Youth Association “Decided for Christ” (EC) eV set up the Arno Pagel Foundation . This was made possible by a special donation of 100,000 DM made for this purpose. The purpose of the foundation is to support missionary work on children and young people in the sense of promoting youth care and youth welfare .
