Setup time (church)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A set-up time is a Christian leisure time , i.e. a range of events lasting several days or several weeks. The term is particularly widespread in the Protestant churches and free churches in East Germany. As with all Christian offers, there are offers with a predominantly recreational character (e.g. ski set-up times, hiking set-up times), pastoral offers in which spiritual deepening is sought, and courses on any topic regardless of the organizer's Christian background. The preparation time in the Catholic Church corresponds to offers such as retreats or retreats .

A special form of set-up times are the family singing weeks, during which Christian families gather for 10-14 days under the direction of a cantor in a church recreation or set-up time home to work together on smaller works of church music , e.g. B. to rehearse cantatas and perform them in the service of the nearest church and / or special afternoon or evening music. The smaller children are often looked after by students of social education or church music and practice their own little music, e.g. B. a children's cantata. The family singing week also includes games together, e.g. T. walks, morning and evening prayers.

There are also set-up times as an offer from Christian military chaplaincy . They last several days during which the military chaplain works with the soldiers on a specific ideological and / or religious topic.
