German Community Diakonieverband

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Community Diakonieverband (DGD) , based in Marburg, is an association of diaconal missionary institutions in the Evangelical Gnadauer Community Association . It also includes the Tabor Study and Life Community Foundation and the Diaconal staff . The DGD sees its work in the various areas of activity as a service for God. There are close connections to the Working Group of Evangelical Missions .

history

The origins of the association lie in the founding of a community sister house in the East Prussian town of Borken on October 20, 1899 by Pastor Carl Ferdinand Blazejewski . After he died on May 24, 1900, Pastor Theophil Krawielitzki brought the young sisterhood to his pastor in Vandsburg in West Prussia (today: Więcbork ) and had a mother house built for them. It was the first deaconess mother house of the evangelical community movement. After the founding of further deaconesses mother houses in Marburg ("Hebron") in 1908, in Gunzenhausen ("Hensoltshöhe") in 1909 and in Elbingerode in 1921, it was legally formed in 1922 as the German Community Diaconal Association with its headquarters in Marburg. In 1932 another deaconess mother house was founded in Lachen and in 1945 the deaconess mother house Bleibergquelle in Velbert , at that time still under the name "Neuvandsburg-West".

In November 2012 the DGD Foundation was established, which took over the duties of the partner of DGD-GmbH Krankenhausbetriebe and Diakonie-Krankenhaus Harz GmbH. In 2016, Pastor Joachim Drechsel took over the chairmanship of the board, after his retirement in 2020 Claudia Fremder and Hubertus Jaeger continued this work.

time of the nationalsocialism

The political and ecclesiastical stance of the DGD in the time of National Socialism and the church struggle is controversial. At the beginning of 1935, the then director, Pastor Theophil Krawielitzki , dissolved the DGD's membership in the Gnadau community association. It was not until March 1946 that the DGD, represented by Krawielitzki's successor, Pastor Arno Haun, rejoined the Gnadauer Verband after having pleaded guilty.

Board

The management of DGD e. V. has been made up of a voluntary board since 2016:

  • Rainer Reissner (1st Chairman)
  • Deaconess Renate Lippe (2nd Chair)
  • Deaconess Astrid Duske
  • Deaconess Heidemarie Jäckel
  • Pastor Reinhard Holmer
