purpose

The purpose of the foundation is to promote the Christian faith by spreading the gospel through the media at home and abroad. It develops and produces 400 different media annually with a total circulation of over ten million copies and is active in training and advising churches, Christian congregations and groups on questions of missionary congregation development, the use of literature and public relations. The Marburger Medien Foundation wants to "make faith visible" with its media.

Emergence

Leonhard Eckart (* 1886 in Emskirchen ) is considered the initiator and founder of the foundation, formerly known as the Marburger Blättermission . In 1921 he founded the first leafing mission group in Nuremberg - starting from the Hensoltshöher Diakonissenhaus - and another four months later in Augsburg. The groups were intended as a method of evangelism that promoted neighborhood missions with pamphlets . In 1924 Eckart was appointed by the founder of the German Diaconal Association (DGD), Pastor Theophil Krawielitzki (1866–1942), as head of the leafing mission for faith service in Marburg. In 1925 the Marburger Blätter-Mission was founded as a GmbH. A few years later it became part of the DGD. It has been called the Marburger Medien Foundation since November 12, 2002 and has since been an independent work within the DGD network.
