Aníbal Luis Paz (born May 21, 1917 (according to other sources on February 18, 1918 ) in Prado , Montevideo , † March 21, 2013 in Montevideo) was a Uruguayan football player .
Club career
The El Canario called goalkeeper was in Montevideo Neighborhood Prado born. Another source names the Belvedere district as the place of birth. First playing at Belvederer Klub General Hornos and then at the Rampla Juniors , Paz finally began his club career in 1933 at Liverpool Montevideo , where he first coached at the age of 14 or 15. When playing in the Intermedia club Paz was champion in that league. In 1937, the goalkeeper then moved to Bella Vista . His most successful sporting period began in 1939 when he - on the recommendation of Roberto Porta - joined the large Montevidean club Nacional . There the undisputed regular player for over 13 years was able to win a total of nine Uruguayan national championship titles with his teammates by 1953 and was involved in the legendary Quinquenio de Oro (1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1946, 1947, 1950 and 1952). In addition, Nacional triumphed during this time in 1942 and 1946 at the Copa Río de la Plata . In the last years of his 14-year club membership, Paz also acted as captain of the team. He played his last game for the Bolsos on November 14, 1953 against Danubio . In total, he came to 471 missions for Nacional and is after Emilio Walter Álvarez the player Nacionals with the largest number of games for the club in the club's history. National team
Paz was also a member of his home country's national team . He took part with her in the soccer world championship in 1950 and won the world championship there.
