Rubén Morán (born August 6, 1930 in Montevideo , † January 3, 1978 or January 10, 1978 ) was a Uruguayan football player .

The left winger with Asturian ancestors played at club level at least from 1950 to 1954 for the Uruguayan club Club Atlético Cerro . In the course of his career he was also a member of the cadres of Club Sportivo Cerrito and Club Atlético Defensor . He moved to the latter club in 1954 in exchange for Argimón . He ended his career early.

National team

The El Tiza named Morán was also a member of the national team of his home country and took part with her in the 1950 World Cup in Brazil . In this tournament he only came to a single use. However, it was the final against Brazil, the so-called Maracanaço , which ended with Uruguay's victory and the associated win of the world title. Morán, who replaced the injured Ernesto Vidal in this game, was only 19 years and 344 days old in this game, making him the youngest participant in a World Cup at the time. Morán was also part of the Uruguayan squad for the 1953 Campeonato Sudamericano . There he also played a game when he came on again against the Brazil selection in the 83rd minute for Donald Peláez . He is said to have played a total of five international matches, none of them in Montevideo.

After the career

Morán later became completely impoverished, suffered from depression after his career and died at the age of 47.
