Alfredo Moreira Júnior , called Zezé Moreira , (born October 16, 1907 in Miracema , RJ ; † April 10, 1998 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian football player and coach. He was the coach of the Brazilian national team from 1954 to 1955.
Career
He trained u. a. several times the Brazilian national team. With this he won the Pan American Football Championship in 1952 . At the Football World Cup in 1954 , he reached the finals with the team . Here this failed in the quarterfinals against the later vice world champion Hungary. This game went down in World Cup history as the Battle of Bern , in which three players were given red cards and then the Hungarians stormed the cabin by the Brazilians.
Zezé Moreira developed the area coverage in 1951 and led Fluminense FC to the national championship of the same year with this system. Nevertheless , the 4-2-4 developed at the same time by Martim Francisco at Villa Nova AC in Minas Gerais should prevail with which Brazil finally won its first world championship title in 1958.
