Carlos Manuel Sampaio Nascimento (born October 12, 1994 in Matosinhos ) is a Portuguese sprinter who specializes in the 100-meter run .
Athletic career
Carlos Nascimento gained his first international experience at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he won the B final over 100 meters in 10.79 seconds. In the following year he took part in the Youth World Championships near Lille , where he retired with 10.98 s in the first round and did not start in the 200-meter run . In 2012 he finished seventh in 10.41 s at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona and retired from the preliminary round with the Portuguese 4 x 100 meter relay with 21.38 s. At the Junior European Championships in Rieti in 2013 , he was eliminated with 10.82 s in the semifinals and was eighth in the relay in 40.94 s. In 2015 he reached eighth place at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn in 10.58 s and was disqualified with the relay in the preliminary run.
In 2016 he took part in the 60-meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Portland and was eliminated there with 6.71 s in the preliminary round. He then reached the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro over 100 meters to the semifinals, in which he was eliminated with 10.52 s and was disqualified with the relay in the run-up. Even at the European Championships , he did not make it into the finals in the individual competition or with the relay and was eliminated with 10.54 s and 39.51 s in the first round. Two years later he reached the semi-finals at the European Championships in Berlin , where he was eliminated with 10.31 s, while he finished seventh in the relay in 39.07 s. At the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow in 2019 , he was eliminated in the 60-meter run with 6.71 s in the semi-finals and then won the European Games in Minsk in 10.26 s. In July he made it to the finals at the Summer Universiade in Naples , but did not start there.
In 2012 and 2018, Nascimento was the Portuguese champion in the 100-meter run. In the hall he won the 60 meter title in 2016 and 2017 and the 200 meter title in 2015 and 2017.
