History

After the end of the Second World War , deaconesses working in the West were given the premises in Velbert by the Allied military government. Based on the mother house Neuvandsburg located in Elbingerode , the mother house was called Neuvandsburg-West . In the course of the opening of the Wall, the deaconess mother house Bleibergquelle finally officially replaced the name.

During the war, the area was used by the German Labor Front ; before that, parts of it were an excursion restaurant, and in earlier times also a lead mine, which was now inaccessible due to flooding. There is still a smaller bunker from wartime, but it only consists of a ground-level walkway built into the mountain.
