The publishing house of the Francke-Buchhandlung is a publishing house of Christian literature named after August Hermann Francke , based in Marburg , whose origins go back to 1918.

history

The publishing house of the Francke bookstore was founded on July 1, 1918 as "Reichsverlag" at the suggestion of the deaconesses of the German Community Diakonieverband (DGD). In memory of the theologian Philipp Jacob Spener , the name was first changed to Spener-Verlag in 1936 and then to Francke-Buchhandlung in 1950.

In 2017 the Francke Buchhandlung publishing house and Kawohl Verlag each took over 50% of the literary branches of the Chrischona joint venture, including Brunnen Verlag (Gießen) , the ALPHA bookstore chain and the logistics company ChrisMedia.
