Gary Chapman
Gary Demonte Chapman (born January 10, 1938 in China Grove , North Carolina , USA ) is an American Baptist pastor, anthropologist, pastor, couple and relationship counselor and non-fiction author. The couple therapeutic concept of the five languages of love comes from him , which has been translated into many languages and has received worldwide attention.
Life
Chapman graduated from the Moody Bible Institute and graduated from Wheaton College west of Chicago in Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology. At the Wake Forest University , he received the degree of Master of Arts , at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary , the degrees Master of Religious Education (MRE) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). He then worked at the University of North Carolina and Duke University in Durham , North Carolina to complete his training.
Chapman has served as a pastor at the Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem , North Carolina since 1971 . He has also spoken to thousands of couples on weekend seminars. A Love Language Minute ( One minute love language ) and Building Relationships with Dr. Gary Chapman ( Developing Relationships with Dr. Gary Chapman ) are his radio programs that are broadcast on over 400 radio stations in the United States.
Private
Chapman is married to Karolyn J. Chapman, they have two children and live in Winston-Salem.
