The Marien Hospital Witten is a Catholic hospital in Witten . Over 21,000 inpatients and around 42,000 outpatients are treated annually. The clinic is the academic teaching hospital of the Universities of Bochum and Witten / Herdecke .
history
The Marien Hospital was opened on November 8, 1858 . The Catholic community signed a contract with the motherhouse of the Vincentian Sisters in Paderborn , who took over the care. A number of extensions were made. In 1903 the house was raised by two floors so that it had 220 beds. In 1926 a new building was started. During the Second World War, an air raid on December 12, 1944 hit the house hard. On March 19, 1945, another heavy air raid almost completely destroyed the house. The reconstruction took two years. In 1959, two sister houses were built. Extension buildings to the north followed. Further construction work took place in 1982 and 2004. The hospital now has an underground car park. The hospital has belonged to the St. Vincenz Gruppe Ruhr GmbH since mid-2008 .

The house has the departments of internal medicine, cardiology , paediatrics , surgery, obstetrics / gynecology, vascular surgery, ENT ( medical department ), radiology / nuclear medicine and anesthesia / intensive care.
