Ev. Witten Hospital

The Evangelical Hospital Witten is a hospital with 302 beds in Witten . The house has nine specialist departments and one department for ear, nose and throat medicine. It is the teaching hospital of the University of Witten / Herdecke .

history

The hospital was opened in 1863 with initially 20 beds. As a result of expansion in 1875, it already had 100 beds. In 1890 the "Evangelical Deaconess House for the County of Mark and the Siegerland zu Witten an der Ruhr" was opened to meet the shortage of nursing staff. The hospital itself was henceforth also known to the population as the deaconess house . A new building became necessary due to the increasing lack of space. In 1976 a new building was finally opened at the current location. The name Diakonissenhaus is still common today in the population of Witten.

The Evangelical Hospital has been part of the Herne / Castrop-Rauxel Evangelical Hospital Community since 2016.
