NGC 4425 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 83 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years across. Together with eight other galaxies, it forms the NGC 4461 group ( LGG 286 ) and is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 984 . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4407 , NGC 4438 , IC 3349 , IC 3363 .

The object was discovered by William Herschel on April 17, 1784 .
