NGC 4415 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Virgo at the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 38 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 15,000 ly. Under catalog number VCC 1178 , it is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4410 , NGC 4411 , NGC 4416 , NGC 4434 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on December 28, 1785 .
