IC 813 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 311 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter. Together with IC 3734 , it forms an interacting pair of galaxies.
The galaxies IC 3679 , IC 3691 , IC 3776 , IC 3781 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Rudolf Spitaler on April 6, 1891 .
