IC 830 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Ursa Major at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 221 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years across. The galaxy is considered a member of the NGC 4686 group ( LGG 300 ).
The galaxy NGC 4732 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on June 8, 1890 .
