IC 846 is a compact galaxy of Hubble type S0 in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is estimated to be 453 million light years from the Milky Way and about 150,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4137 , IC 4154 , IC 4160 , IC 4172 .
The object was discovered by Stephane Javelle on January 16, 1892 .
