IC 848 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 710 million light years from the Milky Way and about 170,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 22, 1892 .
