IC 839 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 334 million light-years away from the Milky Way , about 60,000 ly in diameter, and is a member of the Coma Galaxy Cluster .
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4848 , NGC 4850 , NGC 4851 , IC 3943 , among others .
The object was discovered by Guillaume Bigourdan on May 12, 1885 .
