IC 852 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Ursa Major in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 377 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 17, 1888 .
