IC 866 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 302 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 100,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 862 , IC 864 , IC 867 , IC 870 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 22, 1889 .
