IC 865 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sa in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 240 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 ly in diameter.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on May 15, 1893 .
