IC 850 is a spiral radio galaxy of the Hubble type Scd in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 238 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter. In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 849 .
The supernova SN 1956D was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on May 10, 1893 .
