IC 850 is a spiral radio galaxy of the Hubble type Scd in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 238 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter. In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 849 .

The supernova SN 1956D was observed here.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on May 10, 1893 .
