The Jbel Lekst (or Jbel el-Kest ) is with its height of 2359  m (or 2345  m ) one of the highest mountains of the Anti-Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco . The mountains of the Anti Atlas were measured for the first and last time during the French protectorate period (1912 to 1956).

location

Jebel Lekst is located in the western Anti-Atlas near the Ammeln Valley, about 20 km (as the crow flies) north of the small town of Tafraoute in the province of Taroudannt in the Souss-Massa region .

description

Like almost all mountains in the Anti-Atlas, the Jbel Lekst is characterized by heavily eroded rocks and loose scree. Little rain falls in the entire region; Should snow actually fall in winter, it will melt away again within a few minutes or hours in the daytime sun.

Ascent

Ascent and descent can be accomplished for experienced mountain hikers within a few hours, whereby you can usually approach the mountain from the north by car up to about 5 km away at the village of Aït Iftene . Most of the time, the summit is crossed and descended into the Ammeln valley to the south.
