IC 843 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 331 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years across. The galaxy is a member of the Coma galaxy cluster Abell 1656 .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4922 , IC 842 , IC 4032 , IC 4088 .

The object was discovered by Truman Henry Safford on May 3, 1866 .
