IC 870 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is estimated to be 293 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 60,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 864 , IC 866 , IC 867 , IC 868 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 22, 1889 .
