Amandus Röls
Amandus Röls OSB (~ July 10, 1663 in Schwandorf ; † September 11, 1748 in Donauwörth ) was abbot of the Holy Cross Monastery in Donauwörth.
Life
Amandus Röls was a son of the Schwandorf blacksmith and nail blacksmith Johann Fabian Röls. His brothers were the Augsburg auxiliary bishop Johann Kasimir Röls and Abbot Rogerius Röls of Kaisheim Monastery . He took his religious vows in 1680, became a priest in 1688 and was elected abbot on February 19, 1691.
Like his brother Rogerius in Kaisheim, he had the dilapidated monastery rebuilt from 1696 to 1700 and the endangered collegiate church built from scratch in the Baroque style between 1717 and 1721. The church tower was also rebuilt by 1747. Abbot Amandus also managed to consolidate the monastery economically.
