IC 3943 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 304 million light-years away from the Milky Way , about 50,000 ly in diameter, and is a member of the Coma Galaxy Cluster .
The galaxies NGC 4851 , NGC 4858 , NGC 4860 , IC 839 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Hermann Kobold on May 28, 1895 .
