IC 3960 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 296 million light-years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 35,000 ly. The galaxy is considered a member of the Coma galaxy cluster Abell 1656 .
The galaxies IC 3946 , IC 3949 , IC 3959 , IC 3963 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Hermann Kobold on May 12, 1896 .
