IC 798 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E0 in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky , the estimated 15 million light-years from the Milky Way 's center. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VCC 1440 as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
The galaxies NGC 4523 , IC 797 , IC 800 , IC 3462 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on April 22, 1892 .
