IC 766 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Raven south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 188 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 4188 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on April 19, 1892 .
