IC 748 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E2 in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 432 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3976 and NGC 4029 , among others .
The object was discovered on April 19, 1893 by Stéphane Javelle .
