IC 741 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 144 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 35,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3915 , IC 738 , IC 2969 , IC 2974 .
The object was discovered on June 3, 1893 by the astronomer Stéphane Javelle .
