IC 724 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa with an active galaxy core in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 263 million light years from the Milky Way and about 180,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3863 , NGC 3876 , IC 720 , IC 722 .
The object was discovered by Rudolf Spitaler on March 24, 1892 .
