IC 724 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa with an active galaxy core in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 263 million light years from the Milky Way and about 180,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3863 , NGC 3876 , IC 720 , IC 722 .

The object was discovered by Rudolf Spitaler on March 24, 1892 .
