IC 706 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Becher in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 216 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 90,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3715 , NGC 3727 , NGC 3734 , IC 2889 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on April 21, 1892 .
