IC 687 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is an estimated 455 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter.

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on May 11, 1890 .
