IC 685 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E3 in Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 1.15 billion light years from the Milky Way and about 140,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 3626 , NGC 3639 , NGC 3659 , IC 2703 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 11, 1888 .
