The whim of the Natour finals Everything without electricity

The mood of the Natour finals is a live album by the band Die Toten Hosen . It was created as a result of the tour of the same name from November 2017 to November 2018 and was recorded during the concert on October 13, 2018 in the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf. It was released on March 29, 2019 as a double or triple album on JKP together with the album Auf der Suche nach der Schnapsinsel - Live in SO36 , recorded on November 7, 2018 in the Berlin club SO36 . Both albums were recorded by sound engineer Stefan Holtz and produced by Vincent Sorg .

The albums were also released on April 12, 2019 as a five-disc vinyl record in a limited edition of 5,000 copies.

Cover and booklet

The front of the packaging, designed by Dirk Rudolph, shows a colorful collage of skulls, musical instruments and headlights. The booklet contains numerous photos of the band members taken by Bastian Bochinski and Chris Schwarz. The back of the booklet is a homage designed by Carla Meurer to the artist Michael Roman, who died in 2016, and shows colorful skeletons dancing and making music. Roman had designed numerous posters, covers, tickets, t-shirts and stage sets for the band in this style.

Natour's whim

The concert tour called Laune der Natour began at the beginning of November 2017 in the Chemnitz Arena and the exhibition hall in Erfurt in front of around 10,000 people each. Two concerts followed on November 10th and 11th in the Hallenstadion in Zurich . The next stops were the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg , the ÖVB Arena in Bremen for two concerts and the TUI Arena in Hanover . On November 24th and November 25th Die Toten Hosen played in the Arena Leipzig , on November 28th in the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, and afterwards for two concerts in the Festhalle in Frankfurt am Main . In November and December 2019 the band hosted the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, the Munich Olympiahalle , the Wiener Stadthalle , in the Dortmund Westfalenhalle and in the ISS Dome in Düsseldorf.

The second part of the concert tour began on May 18, 2018 in Esch an der Alzette in the Rockhal . This was followed by concerts in May and June in the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig , in the Essen stadium , in the Expo Park Hanover , and in the DDV stadium in Dresden, where the band members were reported by the Dresdner Bäder GmbH for a nightly visit to the outdoor pool. After the band made a voluntary donation of € 5,000, the advertisement was withdrawn.

After Campino suffered a sudden hearing loss at the beginning of June 2019 , the tour had to be canceled at short notice and the concerts on the Berlin Waldbühne , at the Nova Rock Festival in Austria and on the Bürgerweide . The concert in Bremen was on August 4th, 2018 and the Berlin gig on August 29th, 2018.

On July 21, 2018, the band played in front of 65,000 people in Stuttgart on the Cannstatter Wasen , and the next day at the Cuxhaven sea airport at the Deichbrand Festival in front of 60,000 people.

In August, concerts followed in Hamburg at the Bahrenfeld trotting track , at the open air at the exhibition grounds in Freiburg im Breisgau , at the Allmend stadium in Lucerne and at the Ferropolis in Graefenhainichen . In September 2019 the band played in Minden on the banks of the Weser in front of 40,000 people, on the Volksfestplatz in Bayreuth , at the Mannheimer Maimarkt and two days in a row in Bosen-Eckelhausen on the festival meadow on the Bostalsee .

At the end of the tour, the band played on October 12 and 13, 2018 in the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf in front of a total of 90,000 visitors.

The whim of the Natour tour was attended by a total of 1,390,000 people for 48 indoor concerts and eight festivals. The band needed 30 trucks with which they traveled through Germany, Austria and Switzerland to transport the equipment, the stage set-up and the 100-person team.

The tour was accompanied by the directors Cordula Kablitz-Post and Paul Dugdale , who released the documentary Because You Only Live Once - Die Toten Hosen on Tour in 2019 through Avanti media fiction in March 2019 and then released it as a video on JKP .

Music and track list

The order of the songs on the album corresponds to the set list for most of the concerts on the tour. Only a few tracks come from the current album Laune der Natour. Most of them are the successful hits of the band from the last few decades, some of them newly arranged as acoustic versions, accompanied by piano and violin.

During the tour , the band Die Toten Hosen consisted of front man and singer Campino , guitarists Andreas von Holst and Michael Breitkopf , bassist Andreas Meurer and drummer Vom Ritchie . Guest musicians during the tour and during the recordings for the album were Esther Kim at the piano and the Russian strings Alexander Pichugin and Dimitry Pichugin , Georg Sarkisjan , Alex Piastro and Simón Doggenweiler Menkhaus .

SO36 entrance on Oranienstrasse

The name of the album Auf der Suche nach der Schnapsinsel is based on the story told by Hans Paetsch on the 1984 album Under false flag from the titles Im Hafen ist Endstation , Unter false flag and Im Hafen ist Endstation 2 .

Die Toten Hosen played for the first time at SO36 on April 30, 1982 , even before they released their first album. At the two-hour show on November 7, 2018, the bands therefore played mostly songs from their early days and cover versions of their role models from the heyday of punk rock . Support was provided by TV Smith , who appeared with the band on his songs Gary Gilmore's Eyes and Only one Flavor from the album Useless .

The album reached third place in the German charts, third place in the Austrian charts and fifth place in Switzerland.

Markus Brandstetter notes on laut.de that Die Toten Hosen are looking back on their tour with “a live release”. They “did everything right” - even if the current record may not be as good as the one before it. In search of the schnapps island , when the band played in SO36 in Berlin, where “everything was narrower, sweatier and a bit more mangy than in normal operation”, “if the pants were normal operation”, was “confident” and one could “ don't complain ”.

Eric Meyer writes at Plattentest: "Yes, even loyal tomatoes miss one or two favorites with this well-presented live package that the old men withhold from them - but stale is different."

The internet portal cdstarts.de awards eight out of ten points in its evaluation. There Matthias Reichel notes that the “small club concerts of the band represent a nice contrast to the gigantomania of the stadium tours”, “which had reached a new high point with the previous concert tour”. Reichel continues: “The band beats its way through their set at breathtaking speed and brings the audience to a frenzy with hits like Liebeslied , Alles aus Liebe , Here comes Alex , days like this or also make a wish . Although there are already so many live long players by Toten Hosen and a few songs are hanging out to your ears by now, it is always an experience to take note of the current stage of development of the band ...
