On behalf of the Lord is the second live album by the music group Die Toten Hosen . The name of the album is an association with the 1980 film classic Blues Brothers , in which a group of chaotic musicians are traveling under the same motto.

The album was produced by Jon Caffery and first released on October 25, 1996 by the band's own label, JKP . The music was recorded by Dieter Dierk's Mobile Studio in May 1996 during the first section of the Ewig is longest tour at the concerts in the Dortmund Westfalenhallen , the Carl-Diem-Halle in Würzburg, the Berlin Deutschlandhalle and the Hallenstadion in Zurich .

The order of the songs on the album corresponds to the set list of most concerts on the tour Ewig is the longest in 1996 for the album Opium fürs Volk . The songs The Passenger by Iggy Pop and Sheena is a Punkrocker by the Ramones are cover versions of the band's role models from the punk rock genre .

The text on Once in four years refers to the general election . The song was written back in 1992. To date, there is no published studio recording of the title.

The folk song Guantanamera , begins Campino after a brief announcement with a wave of Ballermann 6 with the well-known Spanish text and simple guitar accompaniment, will use then faster than all the instruments and the song into the version of the yobs with lewd text Cunt in the Mirror to an end . This song is in a studio version as a hidden track on the album Love, Peace & Money .

You'll Never Walk Alone , the anthem of Liverpool FC , has been giving the audience the Toten Hosen after every concert on their way home since 1996.

Video album

Ticket for the Eternal lasts the longest tour 1996, back

In the same year, a VHS cassette with live recordings of the band and almost the same set list was released parallel to the album . The recordings for this took place in the Dortmund Westfalenhallen, in the Europahalle in Karlsruhe, the Carl-Diem-Halle in Würzburg and the Wiener Stadthalle . Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher, known under the name DoRo, directed the film . In order to get a special perspective, the musicians mounted mini cameras on the necks of their guitars.

In addition to the concert recordings, the video tape is enriched with various insights "behind the scenes" of a rock concert and the tour life of the band and crew is documented in detail. It reports on the trips in the tour bus, the accommodation in the hotel room, the catering , the stage set-up, sound check and "warming up" before the show, as well as the stage dismantling and the celebration with friends, fans and family afterwards. In addition, the video with a playing time of 108 minutes contains the pieces:

The single Alles aus Liebe (live) was released from the album in 1997 and contained the additional titles Lügen and Seelentherapie , and a crew T-shirt was included as an encore.

New edition 2007

For the 25th anniversary of the band, the album On behalf of the Lord was remastered. A new additional booklet contains a conversation with Jan Weiler , in which the band looks back on their experiences at live concerts. The focus is also on the concert on June 28, 1997 in the Düsseldorf Rheinstadion in front of 60,000 spectators, in which a sixteen-year-old girl died in the crowd in front of the stage. The new edition contains the title Soul Therapy as an additional title .

The album reached number two on the charts in Germany and Switzerland; in Austria it came in third place. It was 37 weeks in the German charts. In 2001 the album was awarded a gold and a platinum record in Germany. In Austria the album received a gold record in December 1996. The music video received a gold award in Germany in 1997; by 2009 it achieved gold twice.
