The concert tour continued to Haltern , Oberhausen , Wuppertal , Düsseldorf and Deggendorf . On September 5th, 1987 the band played in the Tempodrom in Berlin, on September 12th in Garching near Munich at the Peace Festival and on September 15th at the Olof Palme Peace Festival in Pilsen , where the band, after an exuberant celebration, together with those from the Fans who had traveled to the GDR were forced to leave the country immediately by the police. The tour ended with a Christmas concert on December 23, 1987 at Tor 3 in Düsseldorf .
During the concert tour, the group Stunden X from Düsseldorf and the London band Blubbery Hellbellies did the opening act . Sometimes Die Goldenen Zitronen also appeared on stage as guests.
The concerts were recorded by the mobile recording studio Dieter Dierks , the mixing and the final mastering for the album Bis zum bitter Ende was done by Jon Caffery in the studio Preußenton in Berlin.
Procedure, announcements and track list

The title of the album goes back to the song of the same name, which was first published in 1983 on the debut album Opel-Gang . An a cappella version of the song was recorded for the album Damenwahl in 1986. The band plays this simple drinking song live, mostly in the encores according to the call and response principle with the audience.
The arrangement of the music tracks on the album is based on the order of the set list as it was played at most of the concerts on the tour. From the announcement at the beginning of the album, spoken by tour leader Jäki Eldorado: “Dear punk rockers, the wait was worth it. Are you all in a good mood? Do you all like lemonade? Is Purple Schulz the greatest thing for you guys? You guys are at the completely wrong concert. This is punk rock. These are Die Toten Hosen from Düsseldorf! ”It flows seamlessly into Rock 'n' Roll , an interpretation of the song by Gary Glitter .
With Police on my Back , in the original by The Equals, there is another cover version in English on the album. For Disco in Moscow , the text of the song by The Vibrators was translated into German by Campino . Army of Losers and Love Song had previously been published as B-sides. The music title Jürgen Englers Party from the debut single We are ready was changed to Die Rosen giving 'ne Party , whereby the hosts mean the pseudonym Die Roten Rosen , under which Die Toten Hosen the album Never Mind The Hosen - Here's Die Roten Rosen im In 1987. Happy Metal Part I , Friday the 13th , Happy Metal Part 'II , Drunken on Service and Happy Metal Part III are combined as one medley .
Many songs are announced by Campino, for example the word about Sunday : “It's time for all the priests and pastors to get away on Saturday evening and let a few sensible people speak the word for Sunday : Lemmy from Motörhead, for example, or of course Johnny Thunders . This is ours! ”Or the title Schwarzwaldklinik :“ The next one is from a hospital where the patients wear white coats, and it is called the Black Forest Clinic . ”The lyrics of the song Schwarzwaldklinik contain a mocking swipe at Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders from Modern Talking : "Dieter and Thomas got burned in the tanning institute while sunbathing."
New edition 2007
At the end of 2007, among other things, the album Until the bitter end was reissued, all tracks remastered and a completely new booklet designed. The CD also contains the recordings of a concert the band gave in Edinburgh in 1992 and which was broadcast live on the radio.
