Jürgen Engler (born October 12, 1960 in Düsseldorf-Bilk ) is a musician and producer . He was a co-founder of the German punk band Male and the later band Die Krupps . Engler is an American citizen and lives in Austin , Texas .

Life

Engler grew up in Düsseldorf-Bilk. He attended Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium , which he left shortly before graduating from high school without a degree. He then earned his living by doing odd jobs and playing in various music groups. In 1976 he founded the punk band Male. After years as a musician with Die Krupps and Dkay.com , he emigrated to the USA in the mid-1990s , where he initially lived in Austin and New York for ten years as the holder of a green card . He took citizenship of the United States and dropped German citizenship in the 2000s . Engler has lived with his partner in Austin since the late 2000s, where he works as a salaried producer for Cleopatra Records . In November 2018, Engler founded the supergroup Die Klute together with Dino Cazares ( Fear Factory ) and Claus Larsen ( Leather Strip ) .

Act

In addition to his work as a musician, Engler works as a producer for the groups mentioned as well as for other national and international artists. Little is known that in 1996 he organized jam sessions with Dieter Moebius from Cluster and Mani Neumeier from Guru Guru , which led to the founding of the group Space Explosion in 1997 . As part of his employment at Cleopatra Records, he worked with musicians such as Iggy Pop , Trapt , Ministry , Stabbing Westward and Sly Stone and was involved in various dubstep , kraut and space rock projects.
