Stabbing Westward is an American alternative rock - / industrial rock - band .
history
The group was formed in 1985 in Chicago , Illinois and initially played electro-pop- oriented music with influences from The Cure and New Order . Stabbing Westward was later inspired by bands like Skinny Puppy and Ministry . The first studio recordings were made from 1990; four official studio albums followed . On February 9, 2002 the breakup of the band was announced. They also wrote the theme song ( The Thing I Hate ) for the PlayStation 1 game Duke Nukem: Time To Kill .
